An Integrated approach
The integrated d&b workflow improves efficiency all the way from the start of a project through planning and simulation to control of the final result.
Venue data is used to create a model in the d&b ArrayCalc simulation software. The choice of the loudspeakers, placement, levels and configuration is also entered into this room model. The effect of the scheme can be simulated, carefully checked and optimized, until the desired performance is achieved. Once the mechanical array settings have been finalized, the optional ArrayProcessing function within ArrayCalc applies powerful filter algorithms to optimize the level and tonal balance of a line array over the entire audience area.
ArrayCalc then generates rigging plans, parts lists for the final proposal. Once ready, the complete system configuration can be opened in the R1 Remote control software. A graphical user interface is generated automatically for the complete system and applies all the defined settings to the amplifiers.
The R1 Remote control software is used to make adjustments and monitor the system in as much detail as needed to ensure the sound is in line with the original intention.

ArrayCalc simulation software
The d&b ArrayCalc simulation software is the simulation tool for d&b line arrays, column and point source loudspeakers as well as subwoofers.
This is a comprehensive toolbox for all tasks associated with acoustic design, performance prediction, alignment, rigging and safety parameters.
For safety reasons d&b line arrays must be designed using the d&b ArrayCalc simulation software. d&b ArrayCalc is available as a native stand-alone application for both Microsoft Windows1 (Win7 or higher) and Mac OS X (10.6 or higher) operating systems. This can significantly reduce setup and tuning time in mobile applications and allows for precise initial simulations when planning installations. Listening planes can be defined in the venue tab, creating a three dimensional representation of any audience area in a given venue.
All sources can be time aligned, additionally the phase response of a flown system and a ground stacked SUB array can be calculated at a definable reference point. The level distribution resulting from the interaction of all active sources can be mapped onto the previously defined audience areas in a three-dimensional view, which can also be zoomed, rotated and exported as a graphics file. The Remote ID for all devices can be managed in the amplifier tab. EASE and DXF data export capabilities are also available.
The R1 Remote control software uses the data defined in ArrayCalc to generate an intuitive graphical user interface including complete details of the simulated system, including loudspeakers, amplifiers, remote IDs, groups, ArrayProcessing data and all configuration information. This workflow removes the need to manually transfer data from one software program to the other.

R1 Remote control software
The R1 Remote control software presents a d&b system graphically, channel by channel, loudspeaker by loudspeaker, group by group, with faders and buttons arranged just as required. Dials and displays control equalization, delay, levels, switchable filter functions, Mute and power.
Even an offline mode is available for advance preparation. R1 reads a file created by the d&b ArrayCalc simulation software to generate a project specific user interface. With this virtually defined and optimized system design, detailing the complete loudspeaker and amplifier configuration, R1 depicts everything to be controlled and monitored and transfers the settings to the d&b amplifiers.
The R1 Remote control software is the virtual centre of any d&b Remote network, be it from a laptop in the control room, mix position or somewhere in the auditorium. Its intuitive user interface ensures efficient planning, unlocking the full potential of the d&b system approach.

Amplifiers
The all-embracing functionality of the d&b amplifiers can be accessed via the d&b Remote network, through either Ethernet or CAN-Bus, providing all the power to effectively control. All d&b amplifiers incorporate sophisticated Digital Signal Processing capabilities for comprehensive loudspeaker management, switchable filter functions, remote capabilities and user-definable controls.
The d&b amplifiers are designed specifically to power d&b loudspeakers and are the beating heart of all d&b systems.
The 10D, 30D, D20 and D80 provide two user-definable 16-band equalizers with parametric, notch, shelving and asymmetric filters and up to 10 seconds of delay, all of which can be applied to each of the amplifiers’ four channels.
All d&b amplifiers feature analog and AES / EBU digital inputs for each channel, not to mention System check, Input and Load monitoring, overvoltage protection, temperature and signal controlled cooling and switch mode power supplies.
The 10D and 30D are dedicated to installation systems and as such, perfectly fulfil the needs of any permanent sound reinforcement requirement. Whether discreetly integrating inside a venue or operating in a rider driven performance space, these devices provide installation specific functionalities, including enhanced system status monitoring features and GPIOs for extended input routing capabilities.
The 10D, 30D, D6, D20 and D80 also incorporate active Power Factor Correction, which maintains a stable output when used with weak or unstable mains supplies.
All in all, the amplifiers do more than drive d&b loudspeakers; they realize the full potential of the d&b system approach.
