Path of honour

Working for British Ceremonial Arts (BCA), SFL were asked to supply a sound system solution for the Waterloo Chamber at Windsor castle.

BCA are the official producers of personalised films and digital photographs for Investiture ceremonies held at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and The Palace of Holyroodhouse. Their bespoke productions make it possible for every recipient to have unique personalised videos and photographs, from one of the most important days of their lives.

When Investitures are held at Windsor Castle they take place in the Waterloo Chamber and with an increasing number of Ceremonies taking place it became necessary to upgrade the sound system.

The speakers needed to be portable so they could be setup and taken down as required and a new mixing console along with amplifiers installed in a rack cabinet, out of sight in an adjacent storage area accessed via the Grand Vestibule.

For this task SFL specified and supplied d&b E3 loudspeakers driven and processed by D6 amplfiers.

In addition to the loudspeaker installation, new lecturn and radio mics were also supplied along with and upgrade to the hearing aid loop system.

PRODUCT FOCUS: E3

The E3 is an extremely small and versatile high performance system with astonishing sound and excellent headroom. The horn, which may be rotated to give either 90° x 60° or 60° x 90° coverage, has the necessary flexibility in directivity to enable a variety of applications such as delay, infill or distributed sound reinforcement applications. In addition, it can be used as an extremely compact stage monitor. Together with a subwoofer system the E3 is also capable of reproducing live or playback music at continuously high SPLs.
